Is Putting Your Computer On Carpet Bad

In the middle of my imaging week and found horrors lurking inside some of my lab pc s moral of the story do not put your towers on the floor.

Is putting your computer on carpet bad.

The last tower computer i owned was a dell and when i opened that up after 5 years it looked like a squirrel built a nest haunted house inside. You also have a higher dust intake on the machine if you have it on a carpet. Just open it up every six months of so and clean it out with some compressed air. Most of that computers life existed on carpet so now i m not sure where i should put this thing.

There s a science to balancing airflow through. And your computer well it s a giant vacuum cleaner. Carpet is 10x worse in particle accumulation and all that is being sucked into your pc unless you have good air filters. Same i have a small hand vacume so when im bored a lot i can vacume around my computer.

Heck even laying a piece of wood on your floor and placing the pc on the wooden platform will solve this problem although it may not be pretty. My computer desk has a small platform built in to put the computer case on. Yes especially if you have carpet and any ventilation openings on the bottom of the case. But carpets are really good at trapping dust pet hair and all manner of other things.

If the carpet is a problem consider putting it on a platform or stand on the carpet. Just put a 1 2 inch think plank of wood underneath or get a stand for it. Office carpet is not like home carpet. If your carpet is flat and your desktop sits firmly on the ground it should be okay.

The only thing is that on the floor and being hardwood it will collect dust inside the computer. Someone told me that putting a computer on the carpet was bad cause it can build up static electricity. It would look pretty ridiculous stuck on top of my desk. How bad is it to have your pc on carpet l.

Right now i put my tower on a long piece of cardboard does the carpet really build up static electricity and could damage my computer. However that is normal. They do make all types of computer stands that are affordable. Can you put a pc tower on carpet.

I have noticed that with desktops sitting on the floor they seem to get more dust into them quicker than if the pc was sitting above the ground on a desk. It provides more airflow than the included 25 case feet could have allowed on carpet.
